RALEIGH — A bill aimed at toughening penalties forhabitual drunk drivers is one step closer to becoming law. The State Housepassed the measure by a vote of 113 to 1 Monday.
The new law would include longer mandatory sentences, longer licenserevocation periods, treatment, and confiscation of the vehicle driven bythe repeat offender.
The Senate is expected to vote on a similar bill next week.
