SANFORD — A natural gas line rupture Friday morningprompted authorities to evacuate a six-block area in the heart of this LeeCounty town.
The line was ruptured about 10 a.m. by utility crews. Homes andbusinesses in the area were evacuated as a precaution until the fumesdissipated, lessening the threat of explosion or fire.
Authorities told WRAL'sBrianBowmanthat residents and business owners would be allowed to returnabout 1 p.m.
