UNC-CH Stalker Strikes Again

CHAPEL HILL — UNC-CH students, already on alert afterone rapeand another apparent attempt last Thursday, are now doublingtheir efforts to stay safe. Police say there has been a third attemptedassault.

The latest occurred Wednesday at about 5 p.m. when a woman was walkingto her car in a parking lot off Highway 54 on campus. A man stepped infront of her to block her and tried to grab her arm. The woman was able toget away from him, get to her car and call police.

UNC-CH Police Chief Donald Gold told WRAL-TV5'sBetsy Sykes that police are not sure if all three incidents involved the same suspect.

Police have issued a warning and offered some tips to students andstaff who will be on campus this evening. They say be very careful, travelin groups in well-lit areas and take advantage of the school's masstransportation system and its safety escort service

Police have received some tips in regard to last week's assaults, butthere have been no arrests in connection with any of the assaults.
