HOUSTON — The National Hurricane Conference presentedits 1997 Media Award to WRAL-TV5, WB50, WRAL-FM and North Carolina NewsNetworks, all owned by Capitol Broadcasting, for coverage ofHurricanes Fran and Bertha.
WRAL's Chief Meteorologist, Greg Fishel, attended the conference inHouston and accepted the award.
The awards committee said Capitol Broadcasting provided essentialinformation before and after both storms for hundreds of thousands ofresidents.
