Tornado Watch Affects Part of N.C.

TARBORO — The National Weather Service issued a tornadowatch until 10 p.m. Monday for much of eastern North Carolina.

The watch area extended from the coast to a line runningnorth-northeast from Lumberton at the southern end, through Goldsboro andTarboro, to Ahoskie at the northern end.

There were storms with hail reported in parts of the watch area at 6p.m. Monday.

A tornado watch means that conditions exist for the possibledevelopment of tornados. Residents of those areas in the watch zone shouldbe alert to the possibility of tornado development.
