DUDLEY — A business parking lot became the scene of amurder overnight in the quiet town of Dudley. Wayne County investigatorsmay have a robbery-turned-murder or a straight murder on their hands.
Officials say two men had pulled up to a phone booth in the parking lotoff Old Mount Olive Highway. One was on the phone, the other sitting inthe car, when a car pulled up and the man waiting in the car was fatallyshot.
Witnesses told authorities they did recognize the shooter, and he isbeing sought.
The identity of the murder victim is being withheld because hisrelatives are out of state.
Authorities are trying to determine if it was a robbery that got outof hand, or an intentional murder.
