GARNER — There was a big scare Tuesday morning at aGarner medical building. Firefighters donned protective gear beforeentering after potassium-cyanide spilled from a broken machine in amedical office.
Investigators say a worker started cleaning up the dangerous substancebefore realizing what it was. When someone realized the substance waspotentially hazardous, a call was placed to 9-1-1.
The worker who came into contact with the substance was taken to ahospital as a precaution.
The chemical was cleaned up and workers were allowed back inside thebuilding within hours.
