Bradys Offer Support for N.C. Gun Control

CHAPEL HILL — Possibly the most famous gun-safetyadvocatesin the country visited the Triangle Friday. James and SarahBradyare in Chapel Hill to try to raise money to push proposed gun-safety rulesthrough legislature.

James Brady, who was White House press secretary under PresidentReagan, was wounded in the 1981 assassination attempt on the president,was the scheduled guest of honor at fundraising events Friday evening. Thecouple joined gun-control activists in Chapel Hill to endorse proposedfederal legislation requiring child safety locks and storage warnings withall firearm purchases.

The fundraisers were expected to raise up to $15,000 for theDurham-based North Carolinians Against Gun Violence Education fund.
