Walking Should Be Safer at UNC

CHAPEL HILL — There are people looking out for walkerson the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. Starting Monday, university police areissuing warnings to anyone who shows a blatant disregard for pedestriansafety.

After a week-long warning phase, police will begin writing formalcitations. Anyone who gets one will face a fine and may have to appear incourt.

Good behavior will also be noted. Those who go out of their way to keeppedestrians safe may receive a thank-you note from police.
