Police say a tractor-trailer that had just exited Raleigh's outerbeltline at Lake Wheeler Road crashed into a car traveling south on LakeWheeler Road. The impact forced the Mustang across traffic lanes and ontoa curb.
A man and woman in the car were seriously hurt and taken to WakeMedical Center. The man was listed in critical condition; thewoman was being treated for a leg injury.
Police have not released the identities of the three peopleinvolved in the collision. The truck driver's employer is ConsolidatedFreightways.
There were no other witnesses to the accident. Investigators aretrying to determine the cause. The truck, which was a double-lengthtrailer, has been impounded for inspection. It left long skid marksbefore the impact site.
