FAYETTEVILLE — Cumberland County deputies found morethan $400,000 in cash in the trunk of a car stopped on Interstate 95 fordriving too slowly.
Cash bound in piles of 5-, 10-, 20- and 50-dollar bills were located inthe trunk. The sheriff's department suspects the cash was going to be usedto purchase drugs.
The occupants of the car were not charged. They have been asked toprovide a receipt for the cash. In the meantime, it will stay in thecustody of the sheriff's office.
