Burmeister Sentenced, Other Accused to Be Tried

FAYETTEVILLE — James Burmeister has beenconvicted and sentenced to two life sentences without parole for his partin the murders of two African-Americans, but that's not the end of thestory. Another man faces trial and a third still must be sentenced for hisadmitted part in the crimes.

Malcolm Wright faces the same charges as Burmeister. His trial isexpected to start later this month. Wright's attorneysarranged for him to be tried in Wilmington.

Randy Meadows pleaded guilty to lesser charges in exchange for histestimony against Burmeister and Wright. His sentencing date is not yetset.

All three men were paratroopers stationed at Fort Bragg when the crimeswere committed.
