HALIFAX — A young woman is dead after a high speed chaseended in a crash in Halifax and some are wondering why a Division ofMotor Vehicles officer was involved in the chase. The car driven by21-year-old Melody Moseley burst into flames when it slammed into a tree.
Police say Moseley stole the car inRoanoke Rapids after its owner left it running while he went inside arestaurant.
A Division of Motor Vehicles officer spotted the car on Interstate 95and chased it onto Highway 48. Officer William Bridges says the victim wastraveling at a high speed.
Officer Bridges also ran off the road, but was not injured. The NorthCarolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
