Early Morning Shooting Leaves Raleigh Man Wounded

RALEIGH — A Raleigh man was wounded by a stranger whorolled down the window of the car he was riding in and fired severalshots. The early morning incident occurred in the 3600 block of AtlanticAvenue.

Police say the victim, Clay Lamont Dawson, and a friend were leavingPlum Crazy's, a downtown nightclub when they maneuvered behind a new FordExpedition to exit the parking lot. When they got out onto the street, theExpedition slowed down and a passenger in the back seat rolled down hiswindow and fired several shots at Dawson's car. Dawson was struck in theleft wrist and was not seriously injured.

Police say Dawson described the vehicle as a 1997 dark midnight blueFord Expedition with five-star rims. Several other passengers were in theExpedition at the time.
