It was just before 9 p.m. Sunday when officers responded to a domesticdispute call on Filter Plant Drive. When they arrived, they say, SamuelJudd came out of the house yelling and swinging a rifle.
Two police officers shot at 36-year-old Judd and said that what theywalked into was the aftermath of an out-of-control domestic dispute.
Laurie Hall placed the call to police dispatchers. She told dispatchers that Judd had trashed her car and was threatening to kill her with amachete.
Police say when officers arrived on the scene, Judd had allegedly putdown the and picked up a rifle.
Bryant says officers Brian Gainey and Billy Krieger opened fire andJudd died shortly afterward.
Police have not said how many shots were fired.
Joseph Judd claims his brother wasn't trying to shoot the officers, butwas trying to put the gun down.
SBI agents won't say if the rifle was loaded.
Bullet holes are scattered over Samuel Judd's house and Joseph Judd says he wants to know why police let his brother bleed to death.
Samuel Judd did have an extensive criminal record including sixdifferent assaults on law enforcement officers.
SBI officials say they are awaiting autopsy and lab test results. Theysay when they have those results, which should happen in about two weeks,they will make a recommendation to the district attorney.
