NAACP Investigates Discrimination in Fayetteville Police Department

FAYETTEVILLE — The Fayetteville Police Departmentcontinues to be rocked with allegations of racism.

The NAACP held a news conference Saturday to supply evidence ofdiscrimination within the Fayetteville Police Department. The volumes ofevidence include statements such as one officer allegedly saying, "Blackscan't go anywhere in this department except narcotics."

The statement came from one African-American police officer who wasapplying for an advanced position to Homicide Detective.

Two other officers also claim they were denied promotions because ofrace.
