RALEIGH — Raleigh police say they are trying to findthe real identity of a man who claimed to be the victim of a carjackinglast week.
John Kaczmarek is now charged with filing a false police report after atip led police to believe he faked the carjacking charge. Kaczmarek hadsaid he was robbed of his car at gunpoint at a North Raleigh carwash.
Sgt. Gerald Britt of the Raleigh Police Department says authorities areconcerned about the alarm created by Kaczmarek's alleged false report.
Police say Kaczmarek has filed false claims with insurance agencies inthe past, some of them under different names.
