Sleet Shouldn't Cause Problems

RALEIGH — Weather over eastern North Carolina tookanother twist Thursday morning, as light sleet was reported in manylocations.

WRAL Weather Center meteorologist Mike Maze told schoolkids andmotorists not to get excited -- he said it isn't expected to create aproblem.

"It was just be something to talk about," he said. "The sleet was soslight it couldn't accumulate. So this mix of frozen precipitation shouldnot pose any driving problems.

"And, of course, the sad news for the kids is that school is definitelynot going to be affected today," Maze said, laughing. "They've still gotto hit the books -- or computers!"

Temperatures across the state at 6:30 a.m. Thursday ranged from lows of34 in the mountains to 47 at the coast.
