Train Jumps Tracks in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE — Rail passengers whose route takesthem through Fayetteville are finding their itinerary changed. Sixfreight cars jumped the tracks in Fayetteville last night, blocking theright-of-way. Passengers are being linked by bus so they can continuetheir train trips.

The mishap occurred about 10 p.m. in a switching area.

Initially, Fayetteville police had to close traffic in a four-blockarea, including Rowan Street Bridge and nearby roads, but all of thoseavenues are now open.

No one was hurt in the derailment.
