Triangle Teems With 11th Hour Election Activity

RALEIGH — At 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, the polls will openin Wake County and will remain open until 7:30 p.m. Until then, everyoneinvolved in campaigns are pushing to get people to the polls. It's justone final push to get people excited as workers pack up and head out intoneighborhoods.

Many volunteers marched through Triangle neighborhoods Sunday passingout information and talking to people who would listen, but voter JohnBarkley says he thinks all that does is remind people it's time to vote.

It didn't really look busy at various party headquarters buildingsSunday, but that, workers say, is a good thing. It means everyone is outdrumming up support.

There is another place that hasn't been showing signs of the height ofthe voting season. That's the stateBoardof Elections, but it is coming to lifeMonday, and will be one of the busiest places in the state by Tuesday aspolling places and party headquarters get set up and decorated.

Again, polls will be open statewide from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. EST. InWake County, school openings will be delayed two hours to allow studentstime to vote with their parents as part of theKidsVotingproject.
