Hillsborough Brothers Recovering After Shooting

HILLSBOROUGH — Two Hillsborough brothers arerecovering after being shot early Friday evening at the Daniel BooneShell Station in Hillsborough.

Investigators say Joe and John Ganim were shot while trying toprevent Jerry Ray, Jr. from attempting suicide.

Witnesses reportedly told investigators that Ray brandished a pistoland threatened to kill himself after mechanics failed to get his carstarted. The witnesses say shots rang out after the Ganim brothersapproached Ray to keep him from killing himself.

Joe Ganim is in serious condition. His brother was released from UNCHospital Sunday night.

Ray is charged with two counts of attempted murder.
