Teen Fatal Ax

DUNN — A 17-year-old boy was charged Friday withmisdemeanor death by motor vehicle after a truck crash that killed a13-year-old friend.

Justin Flynn would have turned 14 in just a week, but his family won'tbe celebrating on that day. Investigators say Dickinsonhad a learner's permit, but no driver's license when he and Flynn went fora ride in Dickinson's 1978 Ford pickup truck. James, they say, took acurve too fast and lost control of the vechicle, flipping it five times.

Authorities also charged Dickinson with driving without a license,displaying a fictitious registration, failure to wear a safety belt andhaving no insurance.

Flynn's aunt, Toni Myers, says the family is in shock, but they don'tblame Dickinson for what happened.

In this case, the life of a sixth-grader with dreams of becoming afootball star was cut short. Justin Flynn's funeral is scheduled forSaturday.

His family is not only struggling with the emotional loss, they arealso having a hard time paying for the funeral. Skinner Funeral Home inDunn is accepting contributions on behalf of the family.
