<b>DURHAM</b> — A shooting death Tuesday in Durham hasset a new statistical record the city would just as soon not haveachieved.

Investigators say Robert Tucker, Jr. became the 36th murder victimin Durham this year. He was shot in the head during an apparent argumentwith another man.

Witnesses say the suspect, 54-year-old Curtis Calvin, severed Tucker'sear with a knife, then shot him.
