<b>FAYETTEVILLE</b> — An 18-month-old Cumberland County boyremains in a coma Friday after being admitted to Duke University MedicalCenter with massive head and torso injuries.

The child's mother and her boyfriend are behind bars under $25,000bond, charged with child abuse.

Cumberland County Sheriff "Moose" Butler says Tamara Melvinand Steven Franklin are responsible for the child's injuries.

Thesheriff's department was notified of the incident Wednesday.
