Security Changes Aim To Improve Safety At Durham Schools

Posted Updated

DURHAM — After months of planning,

Durham County Schools

have implemented new security measures.

One change is the use of security cameras; every high school will have at least a dozen cameras installed.

Durham will use grant money to help cover the $150,000 cost of installing the security cameras.

School employees will have additional security training and all adults will be required to wear ID badges.

School officials say the changes are not due to any particular incident, but are result of a review of safety across the school district.
