Police Believe Combination Of Drugs Killed UNC Student

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL — Carrboro police hope a toxicology report will tell them exactly how drugs killed a 20-year-old UNC-Chapel Hill student.

Daniel Walker's roommates found him dead in his bed early Friday morning. Police say he died from tainted drugs or from a combination of drugs and alcohol.

"His roommate said to me in an e-mail message that Daniel was a great guy, and I love him and I am going to miss him terribly," says Melissa Exum, Dean of Students at UNC.

Friends told police that Walker appeared OK when he left a party Thursday night. Police think he bought drugs on or around campus on his way home that night.
