Cary Man Arrested In Connection With Hotel Shooting

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — A Cary man wanted in connection with a hotel shooting in March was arrested on Saturday night.

Willie Tomlin, 25, turned himself in to authorities shortly after shooting on March 19 at the Hospitality Suites Hotel, located at 4810 Bluestone Drive in Raleigh, but was mistakenly released from the Henry County, Ga. Jail while awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.

Tomlin returned to the Triangle area last week and was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service on Saturday night at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Cary without any problems.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Tomlin was fully aware of the mistaken release and had been picking up his girlfriend after work at the time of his arrest.

During the arrest, a 0.25 Cal Beretta firearm was recovered from Tomlin's pants pocket, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
