Flanders, which is based in St. Petersburg, FL., will invest $7.8 million over the next three years at the facility in Clarkston. It is expected to open in August. The company already operates plants in Smithfield, Washington and Bath that employ some 1,200 people.
A grant of $225,000 from the One North Carolina Fund helped convince Flanders to pick North Carolina for the expansion.
"Flanders' decision to expand in North Carolina is proof that we are continuing to make the right investments to ensure that we maintain our top-ranked business climate and allow existing industries to expand in our state," said Easley. "The company's ability to thrive and grow here shows that we are providing the highly skilled workforce, low tax burden and infrastructure that businesses need to succeed."
The N.C. Department of Commerce, town of Clarkton, Bladen County Economic Development Commission, N.C. Southeast Partnership, Progress Energy and N.C. Natural Gas were part of the recruiting process.
"North Carolina's skilled workforce along with the local and state assistance programs for training and development have contributed greatly to Flanders' success in becoming a recognized world class leader in air filtration," said Flanders' President Steve Clark in a statement. "This continuing strong partnership with North Carolina and its people weighed heavily in our decision to expand in Clarkton after an extensive search."
