Erica Hicks, 16, played softball, soccer and was a cheerleader at Southeast Raleigh High School. Cary police said Hicks died in October at Western WakeMed after ingesting a lethal combination of Ecstasy and cocaine.

In January, police charged a 15-year-old Cary boy with second-degree murder for providing the drugs to Hicks. Police say he was not a classmate of Hicks.
Hicks' family told WRAL they are most disturbed by a 911 call made by the boy, which was just released. In the call, it appears he changed his mind about getting emergency help for Hicks, telling the dispatcher that his sister had dialed the number.
"Your little ... your little sister called? Do you have an emergency, sir?" a dispatcher said.
"No sir. She ... it was an accident," the boy replied.
It wasn't until 30 minutes after the boy's call that a neighbor called 911, saying the boy came to his house asking for help. In that call, the neighbor refers to Hicks as "absolutely lifeless."
As for the 16-year-old boy, a hearing is set for Tuesday to determine if he'll be tried as an adult.
