$200K Powerball Winner's Identity Still Unknown

Posted Updated

MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — Are you $200,000 richer?

Someone played Powerball in Moore County this week and won the second highest prize. But that winner has not come forward.

The winner bought the winning ticket at the Hess Wilco convenience store on U.S. 1 in Aberdeen. The ticket matched five of the six balls. The odds of that happening are 1 in 3,563,608.

"Man, you got to be kidding. Why couldn't that been us?" Mike Thomas, who works next door to the store, said he told himself when he found out. "Everybody in my shop's been talking about it since yesterday afternoon."

Angela Crabtree said she actually bought Powerball tickets from the same store as the winner. It could have been her.

"It could have been, and maybe next time it will be," said Crabtree.

But, the store and company that owns it aren't talking. The company's executives say their policy is to not speak to the media. They won't allow reporters or photographers inside the store or discuss the winning ticket.

The next drawing is 11 p.m. Saturday. The estimated jackpot is $48 million.
