N.C. Museum Of History Explores History Of Sports In State

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Imagine playing baseball in a wool uniform, wearing a leather football helmet, or playing golf in knickers.

An exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of History called "A Closer Look: Good Sports," gives people a chance to see, touch, and try on a piece of sports history. The exhibit shows how sports have changed since the early 20th century.

"As people come by we give them a chance to touch the things we have collected here and to maybe explain a little bit more about things they didn't know, particularly about our North Carolina athletes," says museum patron Gwen Barnes.

You can also see other sports artifacts at the museum, in the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.
