Suspect Arrested In Fayetteville Barbecue Shooting

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Investigators are still working to figure out the reasoning behind a fatal shooting at a Fayetteville barbecue on Saturday.

Michael Peter Quenqa, 27, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Christopher Brian Jones, also 27.

Authorities said the two were at a house in the 1900 block of Brandywine Drive when they got into an argument at about 8 p.m., and Quenqa allegedly shot Jones once in the back of the head at close range.

Alcohol was a factor in the shooting, police said.

Quenqa's first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Cumberland County Courthouse.
