KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — Sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a Raleigh man found along a Wake County road early Thursday morning.
Neighbors on Clifton Road in Knightdale said they called 911 early Thursday morning after hearing gunshots. At about 3:42 a.m., deputies discovered the body of Dontez Antonio Eason, 19, in a wooded area near the road.
Authorities searched the area and took several pieces of evidence. Two K-9 units also assisted in the investigation.
Eason has a prior criminal record in Wake County. His body has been taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill.
