RALEIGH, N.C. — INC Research

, a contract research organization, is going through quite a growth spurt.

The Raleigh-based company said Wednesday that it is doubling the size of its workforce in the capital city - some 120 jobs - and also expanding its office space by nearly half to 89,000 square feet.

INC is also adding staff and office space at its facility in Austin TX.

The U.S. expansion follows the recent opening of overseas offices in France, the Ukraine and Russia.

INC executives said customer growth is driving the expansion efforts.

"The aggressive growth of INC Research continues to validate our model as a premier, customer-centric service company which is therapeutically-focused and supported by advanced technology," said Jim Ogle, INC's chief executive officer, in a statement. "To date, the key to our success is the support our customers have learned to expect from our high performance teams in reaching their program objectives. The experience and depth of drug development expertise delivered to customers by the high caliber professionals at INC Research drives our growth, and will continue to do so."

INC now has offices in 20 countries. It recently acquired NDDO Oncology, a contract research company focused on cancer research that is based in the Netherlands.

INC's recent expansion efforts include the opening of a training facility at its global headquarters in Raleigh.
