RALEIGH — Raleigh's City Council has unanimously approved spending $750,000 to host the CIAA Basketball Tournament in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
The council agreed earlier this week to spend $250,000 a year for three years. This is the same amount they pledged in 1998 when they bid to hostthe tournament for three years beginning in 2000.
The 2001 tournament alone had an estimated $8.8 million impact on the area's economy.
