On Friday night, state, federal and local investigators raided businesses that rent machines from FunTime Amusements in Hope Mills. They seized more than $1 million, 100 video poker machines and five vehicles, and they arrested seven people.
The state has strict video poker laws, which prohibit cash payouts and limit the number of machines a business can operate.
State records show the owner of FunTime Amusements contributed to the 2002 and 2004 campaigns of state House Speaker Jim Black, who is under investigation for breaking campaign finance laws.
There is no evidence, however, that FunTime Amusements' contributions were illegal.
