With the help of Andrea Bocelli, the six "American Idol" contestants, including two from North Carolina, performed love songs.
Albemarle's Kellie Pickler sang "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers. Her performance was not well-received by the judges.
Judge Randy Jackson said her song had pitch problems and was a very strange choice for her. Judge Paula Abdul said that while she loves her Pickler's work, she did not think that it was a stand-out performance for her.
"I don't see you raising the bar each week," Abdul said. "I think America has fallen in love with you, but at this point it is about greatness."
On the other hand, McLeansville's Chris Daughtry sang "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman" by Bryan Adams to rave reviews.
"That was a very, very good choice of a song, and it was a great song -- a very sexy song," judge Simon Cowell said.
