Authorities said the first incident occurred around noon on Saturday near Danube Lane when a man approached a 4-year-old boy and tried to get him to go to a van with him by promising to give him a teddy bear. When the child's mother approached, authorities say he sped away in the van.
The second incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Monday at a bus stop in the 500 block of Old Oxford Highway. Authorities say a man tried to get a 6-year-old girl to get into a vehicle with him, but sped away when a neighbor intervened. Both incidents were reported to Durham police on Tuesday.
The suspect is described as a bald white male, 35 to 40 years old, 5 ft. 8 in. to 5 ft. 11 in. tall, and weighing around 175-180 pounds. Police say he was driving a white newer model minivan on Saturday. On Monday, police say he was driving a white Dodge extended cab pickup truck with a Harley-Davidson sticker on the back window.
