U.S. Postal Service Hires New Employees: Goats

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — The post office in Fayetteville is home to some new employees --goats.

The goats were brought in two months ago to trim grass around the retaining basin behind the main mail distribution center. They are also good at getting rid of sneaky reptiles.

"We had snakes, and we thought that if we kept the grass low then we would not have a problem with snakes so the goats eat the grass," says Melvin Lewis of the Fayetteville Post Office.

Lewis says there have not been any complaints of snakes near the post office since the goats started on the job.
