Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Some police officers from Raleigh, Durham and Charlotte are traveling south to learn how to deal with gang violence.

The officers are in El Salvador, focusing specifically on the MS-13 gang.

Police consider that group the fastest-growing and most violent gang in the country. Gang activity has been reported in several North Carolina counties, including Wake.

The training involves several Central American countries and the FBI.
