'America's Most Wanted' to Feature Slain Mom's Case

Jenna Nielsen, 22, of Fuquay-Varina, was stabbed to death sometime in the early morning hours of June 14, Raleigh police said. She was dropping off USA Today papers at the AmeriKing Food Mart on Lake Wheeler Road when she was attacked.

Nielsen had two children and was eight-months pregnant with her third son, Ethen. The boy was due to be born on July 8.

Investigators say the person is a male in his late teens or early 20s, standing about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds. He had black hair pulled into a ponytail and wore a dark-colored sleeveless shirt and baggy denim shorts.

Neilsen's family has offered a $10,000 reward in an effort to find her killer, and they have held news conferences and gone on national television to keep the spotlight on the case in an effort to generate leads for police.

"You never know. Somebody out there might see this individual that's in question right now," said Nielsen's father, Kevin Blaine. "I have concerns because it's been three weeks."

"This person killed my wife, killed my son. That's personal," Tim Nielsen said.

Police said the attention is producing tips that investigators are checking. But they have released little information about the case.

"They're not going to tell us anything to jeopardize the case, and I respect that," Blaine said.

The family will be handling out fliers asking for information at Carolina Pines Park at 2305 Lake Wheeler Road on Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers are welcome to help distribute fliers, which are printed in both English and Spanish.

"I'm not only worried for our family. I'm worried for everybody else out there in the community right now," Blaine said.

The family also plans to hold a candlelight vigil at 7:30 p.m. Monday on the mall across from the Legislative Building in downtown Raleigh.
