Biotech Company To Expand, Bring 160 New Jobs To RTP

RALEIGH, N.C. — United Therapeutics Corp.

, a Maryland-based biotechnology company, will build a facility in Durham, creating 160 new jobs and investing $54.3 million over the next three years, Gov. Mike Easley announced Monday.

The biotechnology company will build a new 125,000-square-foot administration, research-and-development and manufacturing facility in the Research Triangle Park, where it currently operates a facility and employs 28 people.

United Therapeutics develops products for patients with chronic and life-threatening cardiovascular and infectious diseases and cancer.

The expected average yearly wage of the new jobs is about $65,000, not including benefits, which is higher than the Durham County yearly average wage of $34,268, not including benefits.
