Authorities Offer Reward For Information Leading To Arrest In Murder Case

Posted Updated

WILSON COUNTY — A $100,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the murder of a prominent Wilson County businessman.

Larry Boyette, a second cousin of former Governor Hunt, was shot and stabbed to death in his home last Sunday. Authorities dragged a pond Friday as they tried to locate the murder weapon.

"Larry Boyette was one of the most gentle, kind men that I've ever known, and his family is suffering greatly as a result of this cowardly act," says Jerry Godwin, Boyette's nephew.

Smithfield Foods is putting up the money for the reward.
