ANDERSON CREEK — Harnett County sheriff's deputies Tuesday were investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl who was taken to a fire station Monday in cardiac arrest.

Officials said Anderson Creek EMS personnel rushed Miracle McDougald to Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, where doctors pronounced her dead.

Her mother's 24-year-old boyfriend took the child to the Anderson Creek Fire Station on Ray Road about 7 a.m. Monday, Harnett Sheriff Larry Rollins said.

The child's body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for an autopsy, and investigators were trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the death, Rollins said.

Authorities said the boyfriend was cooperating with investigators.

The family lives on Jersey Lane, deputies said.
