Police are looking into the background of a man found stabbed to death off Capital Boulevard late Sunday as they piece together the details of the slaying.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police are looking into the background of a man found stabbed to death off Capital Boulevard late Sunday as they piece together the details of the slaying.

Officers responded to a reported assault at about 11 p.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of Old Buffaloe Road and found the body of Fidencio San Agustin San Juan, 37. He had been stabbed to death, police said.

San Juan was seen walking in the area near Capital Boulevard shortly before he was killed. Investigators said they are reviewing video from nearby surveillance cameras and are talking to witnesses.

He had been in Raleigh in the past, was out of town for some time and had just recently come back, police said.

Anyone with information about San Juan or who might have seen something late Sunday in the area of Old Buffaloe Road and Capital Boulevard is asked to call Raleigh police at 919-890-3555.
