FSU held a groundbreaking for its new Business Development Incubator Tuesday. By spring 2001, small business owners will be able to rent office space at or below market value.
The incubator will provide secretarial and computer assistance for entrepreneurs. The university will also develop financial and marketing plans for the tenants.
"We will have the opportunity for the entire community, the students and faculty of Fayetteville State to help and assist these entrepreneurs to become more profitable," says FSU's Dr. Richard Ellis.
The incubator, located on Murchison Road, is expected to create 40 new businesses and 50 new jobs every three years.
It is being made possible through grants from the U.S. department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and theCity of Fayetteville.
