Durham Day Care to Reopen Wednesday Under New Management

Posted Updated

DURHAM — A Durham day care center that has been closed for more than a week will reopen under new management Wednesday.

Duke University, which subsidizes the Early Learning Center at the Durham YMCA, has decided to hire Bright Horizons Family Solutions to run the center.

The Early Learning Center has been closed since March 24 when 69 teachers walked off the job in protest of the center's director being fired.

Bright Horizons will offer positions to the Early Learning Center teachers. If they accept the positions, they will become employees of the new provider.

The day care center is scheduled to reopen on April 5.
