CHAPEL HILL — Four men accused of beating a man at a Chapel Hill football game this fall have been acquitted.
A district court judge ruled that the allegations against the men could not be proven because of inconsistencies in witness testimony.
The alleged beating happened at the same game where spectators claimed they heard whatsounded like gunshots.
The noise sent football players and fans scrambling from the stadium, but police never found any evidence of a shooting.
