Posted Updated

FORT BRAGG — It was the real deal at Fort Bragg Tuesday as four-time heavyweight boxing championEvander 'The Real Deal' Holyfieldpaid a visit to Womack Army Medical Center.

Holyfield is in town catching up with a childhood friend who is now a first sergeant at Fort Bragg. During his visit, Holyfield helped spread some holiday cheer by visiting patients and staff at the hospital.

"In life, the most important thing is to give back," says Holyfield. "It's obvious I've got enough for myself. If my time can make people happy and I can shake someone's hand and they feel better, that's what I want to do."

Holyfield plans to defend his heavyweight title in 2001.
