Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The traditional symbols of Christmas are beginning to take shape in downtown Raleigh.

Students from A.B. Combs Elementary in Raleigh helped Governor and Mrs. Hunt decorate Christmas several trees on the grounds of the State Capitol Friday.

Students from Wake Forest Elementary School chorus added music to the occasion.

This is the seventh year the trees have been decorated with hundreds of ornaments crafted by students from across the state. It is a tradition started by the governor.

The decorated trees are located on the Salisbury Street side of the Capitol.

The lighting of the State Capitol tree will take place Thursday, December 7.
